When a bank is changing its name, it will typically send you notice and give you an official date. If the routing and/or account number is changing on your checking account the bank should notify you of that change as well. Please look at the 3 scenarios below and find the one that is most applicable.
Bank name is changing with no changes to routing and account numbers
In these situations, the bank name on your eChecks should update automatically after the official date when the bank is changing names. If you feel your bank name has changed but your eChecks reflect the old name of the bank, please contact us at support@deluxeechecks.com.
Bank name is changing with changes to your routing and/or account number
In these situations, where the actual routing and/or account number on the bottom codeline of the check changes, you must place a new order of eChecks with that updated routing and account number.
- Can’t the routing and account number just be changed/updated to the new routing and account number?
No, unfortunately it’s not that easy. Protecting customers from fraud and the security of our customers is critical to Deluxe. Each new order has an intensive screening process that must be completed before we allow customers to write eChecks on that routing and account number.
When the routing and/or account number are being updated, you must create a new account with that new updated routing and account number. This order will then route to our US-based security team for them to thoroughly review and screen.
- Do I have to pay for this new order with an updated routing and account number?
Yes, bank changes where the routing and/or account number have changed have been happening long before eChecks. Since we produced and verified the first order eChecks in good faith, and didn’t have anything to do with the checks needing to be updated, we would charge for our services on your second order because we incur expenses for producing new orders of checks.
